Installing the plugin

Project Creator for JIRA is available through the Atlassian Marketplace. Install it through the Universal Plugin Manager in JIRA.

Managing Project creation permissions

Adding groups

Select the group to add from the drop down
Click "Add group"

Removing groups

Click "Delete" next to the group that you want to remove permissions for

Creating a new project template

Once installed, the administrator will see Project Creator under the Plugins drop down menu in the JIRA administration view.

From this page you can:

Set up Project templates
Manage Permissions
Create Component Schemes
Create Version schemes
Create Project Role Schemes (new as of version 2.0)

To add a new template - click on "Add a new project template". To edit or delete an already existing template - click on Edit or Delete next to the template.

Project Template

A project template consists of:

Name	Description
Name	A user friendly name of the template (make it descriptive – this is what the creator of the projector will see)
Project Categories	The name of the project categories that the project creator can select to put the newly created project in. If you only select one item - the creator will not get a choice. The choice will only appear if there's two or more. (as of version 1.1)
Workflow	The workflow scheme to associate with the project.
Permissions	The notification scheme to associate with the project (make sure that the Project Lead has access to utilize the project).
Notifications	The notification scheme to associate with the project.
Screens	The screen scheme to associate with the project.
Issue Type	The issue type scheme to associate with the project.
Fields	The field scheme to associate with the project.
Default Assignee	The default assignee
Components	The name of the component scheme (as of version 1.1)
Versions	The name of the version scheme ( as of version 1.1)

Component and Version schemes

You can now create version and component schemes! These are collections of component and version entries that are used when a project is created. Once the project has been created altering the scheme will not affect any projects created from the schemes.

JIRA Users

Create a new project from a project creator template

The "Create project from template" is only available in the non-administration area of JIRA. If your JIRA administration has granted a group that you belong to with access - you should find it under Projects.

Once you select this - you should be presented with the following screen:

Just fill out the from with the proper details and you'll have a new project.

Specify the Project name.
Specify the unique JIRA project key.
Select your template to create the new project from.
Create the project.
Set up your components and/or versions in the project administration area and start using your new project.
