Convert legacy LaTeX macros to Forge macros
Use the legacy macro detection tool to find and convert legacy LaTeX Math macros on a Confluence page. Converting the macros to their Forge equivalents helps formulas appear in supported PDF, Word, and Scroll exports.
To see the differences between the Connect and Forge versions of the LaTeX Math macros, see https://support.appfire.com/space/LM/2452029626/LaTeX+Math+Cloud+-+Connect+vs+Forge.
Atlassian issues CONFCLOUD-83809 and CONFCLOUD-84443 can prevent legacy Connect macros from appearing in exported documents. Forge macros aren't affected.
Before you begin
Install LaTeX Math Cloud version 6.3.0 or later.
Open a page that contains legacy LaTeX Math macros.
Confirm that you can edit the page.
Convert the detected macros
Open the affected Confluence page in edit mode.
Review the legacy macro detection message.
Select Migrate to convert LaTeX Math legacy macros to the Forge format and update the page.
Select Cancel to close this window.
Select Postpone to set a 24 hour delay for the detected legacy macros on that page.
Wait for the conversion to finish.
Save the page.
Export the page again and confirm that the formulas appear in the exported document.
What the conversion changes
The tool converts supported legacy LaTeX Math macros on the current page to Forge macros. It preserves the formula content and updates the macro format used by Confluence.
Review the page after conversion before you publish or export it. If a formula doesn't render as expected, edit that macro, wait for the preview to render, and save it.
Manual workaround
If the one-click fix isn't available or a macro isn't converted, update the macro manually:
Open the affected macro in the LaTeX macro editor.
Wait for the formula to render in the preview.
Save the macro.
Repeat these steps for each affected macro, and then save the page.
Disable legacy macro conversion
To disable the legacy macro migration option, admins can disable this functionality in global configuration.
