Order of post functions
This content is for JSU for Jira Server/Data Center. If you are using JSU on Jira Cloud, see our JSU Cloud documentation.
Essential post functions
Jira transitions include essential post functions that are executed in a specific order. You can’t delete or move these post functions, but you can place JSU post functions in between. When adding JSU post functions to a transition, it is important to position the post function with respect to the essential post functions. Learn more about Jira’s essential post functions in Atlassian’s Advanced Workflow Configuration documentation.
The Create transition
The Create transition is an issue’s first transition and does not have a source status (only destination status, usually Open). If you add a post function to the Create transition, you should generally position it before Jira’s Create the issue originally post function.
JSU exceptions
Clear Field Value (JSU): If used to clear a label after the issue is created, place it after the Create the issue originally post function.
Update Any Issue Field (JSU): Must be placed after the Creates the issue originally post function.
Create a Linked Issue (JSU): Must be placed after the Creates the issue originally post function.
Any other transition (not Create)
If you are adding a post function to any other transition, position it anywhere before the Update change history for an issue and store the issue in the database post function.
JSU exceptions
Follow-up Transition (JSU): This must be the final post function for a transition. Position it after all other post functions.
Change the order of JSU post functions
You can reposition a JSU post function in your draft workflow. Position your cursor in a post function row, then use the up and down arrows to move the post function to the desired position.
