Feature parity
We have achieved full feature parity between our Data Center and Cloud apps, which is summarised below. For a full feature comparison, see our full feature comparison to review the differences between our Data Center and Cloud apps.
Post functions: All the post functions we offer for Jira Data Center, are also available on Jira Cloud.
See the post functions section of the feature comparison for important notes about Atlassian’s Screen Security Configuration in Jira Cloud.
Preconditions for post functions: All the preconditions we offer for Jira Data Center are also available on Cloud. Note that preconditions are no longer separate post functions; they are now part of the post function. See Workflow preconditions for more information.
Conditions: JSU for Jira Cloud provides parity for both our Data Center conditions and Cloud-only conditions. The JQL conditions are not supported in Jira Cloud.
Validators: Atlassian supports all validators offered in JSU for Jira Data Center and has integrated them with Jira Cloud.
Custom Fields: Due to technical limitations, the three custom fields we provide in JSU for Jira Data Center (Location, Location Select, and Directions) are not available on JSU for Jira Cloud.
Project Variables: JSU for Jira Data Center provides functionality to store variables per project, which can then be used in workflow post functions. This feature is not currently supported on Jira Cloud; it's in our roadmap, and we will let you know as soon as it's available.
Migration tools
Jira Cloud Migration Assistant (JCMA)
If you use JSU Data Center and are planning a migration to Jira Cloud, you can use Atlassian’s JCMA to migrate most of your JSU workflow automations. To learn more about migrating your JSU app and its workflow rules from Jira Data Center to Jira Cloud, see our Jira Cloud Migration Assistant page. Before proceeding with a migration, review our feature comparison tables below to understand the subtle differences between our Cloud and Data Center apps.
Configuration Manager Cloud Migration Tool
JSU has been integrated with Configuration Manager for Jira (CMJ) and the Configuration Manager Cloud Migration Tool, providing a new migration path for Jira project workflows customized with JSU. If you use CMJ and JSU for Jira Data Center, you can now migrate your JSU configurations and data to a Jira Cloud instance to meet more of your migration needs.
See Migrating with Configuration Manager for Jira for more details.
