Adjust an Issue Matrix table in Issue Detail View

Adjust an Issue Matrix table in Issue Detail View

On this page:

Overview

On the Issue Detail View screen, you can interact with the Issue Matrix table to:

  • Sort the issues in ascending or descending order based on a column.

  • Filter the table to show only the unresolved issues.

  • Open the Issue Navigator with the currently applied filter.

  • Adjust the page size of the table.

  • Reorder the sub-tasks of an issue.

  • Add new linked issues, epic issues, or sub-tasks depending on the Issue Matrix mode.

Sort an Issue Matrix table

When creating or editing the configurations of an Issue Matrix custom field, you can use the Sort By option to configure the default sort order of the issues shown in the Issue Matrix table.

Later, each user can change the sorting for their user profile directly from the table.

You can sort an Issue Matrix table by a column in ascending or descending order in two ways:

  • If the administrator has enabled the Show Table Headers option for the Issue Matrix custom field, you can sort and order the issues by clicking a column name in the Issue Matrix table.

  • You can also choose sorting and ordering criteria from the Sort by and Order menu sections. If the Show Table Headers option is disabled for the Issue Matrix custom field, this is the only option available for sorting the table.

To revert the default order of the issues, from the Sort by menu, select Default Order.

Filter an Issue Matrix table (since v. 5.0.0)

In combination with the Sort criteria, you can filter the Issue Matrix table to display all issues or only the unresolved issues. Additionally, you can open the Issue Navigator with the currently applied filter.

The filter options on the Issue Matrix table are:

  • Show All (Default): The matrix table displays all issues regardless of their status.

  • Show Open: The matrix table displays only the unresolved issues. If all issues are resolved, the matrix is displayed as empty.

  • Open issue navigator: Opens the Issue Navigator with the currently applied filter:

    • If you last selected Show All, the Issue Navigator opens with all issues.

    • If you last selected Show Open, the Issue Navigator opens with only unresolved issues.

Your Show All or Show Open selection persists across your sessions for each matrix.

Change the page size of an Issue Matrix table (since v. 5.0.0)

For improved performance, the Issue Matrix table supports pagination in Issue Detail View and Agile Boards.

When creating or editing the configurations of an Issue Matrix custom field, you can use the Issues option to set the default number of issues per page in the Issue Matrix table. This setting automatically applies to all users.

Later, each user can change this setting for their account directly from the table.

You can configure the Items per page value under the Issue Matrix table in one of the following ways:

  • Select a predefined number - 10, 20, 50, or 100.

  • Select Custom and enter a number between 1 and 1,000.

Your Items per page selection persists across your sessions for each matrix.

Reorder the sub-tasks in an Issue Matrix table

To change the priority of a sub-task, drag it anywhere on the list in your Issue Matrix table.

  • When there are filtered sub-tasks, reordering in Issue Matrix works the same way the ranking works in Jira when there are filtered sub-tasks. If you are moving sub-task A before/after sub-task B in the Issue Matrix table, sub-task A will be placed before/after sub-task B in the full list of sub-tasks as well.

  • When there is a default sort ordering in the Issue Matrix configuration (Sort by section), reordering is not allowed.

  • If users sort the sub-tasks by clicking a column name or use the Sort menu on the Issue Matrix table, the drag action is not allowed.

Reordering of sub-tasks with drag 'n' drop is disabled for Issue Matrix tables in Agile Boards and the Issue Navigator.
