Financials management
About the Financials module
In most organizations, managing a portfolio of projects is not just about tracking tasks and deadlines. It is also about monitoring the financials. Instead of using another tool for finance tracking, you can now use a dedicated BigPicture function: The Financials module.
The Financials module lets you track real-time actual costs (cost of past tasks) and estimated costs (cost of future tasks). The costs are calculated based on hourly rates assigned to a box or a team and estimated time and effort for tasks. You can also verify if those costs align with the planned budget.
The cost calculations can be done for a single initiative or a portfolio of initiatives, giving you real-time insight into the financial side of the portfolio.
The following video presents a short overview of the Financials module.
Key features
The key features of the Financials module include:
Real-time tracking of actual costs against planned costs
Automated cost calculation based on time logged in Jira and configurable hourly rates
Hierarchical cost roll-up from tasks to projects, programs, and portfolios
Budget baselining to track planned spending and cost variance
Forecasting of future costs based on remaining time estimates
Videos
The following videos give a quick overview of setting up the Financials module when you use hourly estimates.
