VPAT Status Report.

VPAT Status Report.

This page is not an official VPAT (Voluntary Product Accessibility Template). It is a VPAT Status Report intended to document the current state of accessibility compliance for BigPicture and to provide transparency into the evaluation and remediation process. The purpose of this document is to track ongoing audit findings, known gaps, planned improvements, and areas that already meet WCAG 2.1 AA requirements. An official VPAT will be issued once a comprehensive review is completed and all critical gaps have been addressed.

69 issues found in ARIA role usage — mostly related to invalid values in custom components.

Implementation Notes

  • BigPicture leverages custom components inspired by Atlassian Design System (ADS). This provides a strong accessibility baseline (for example, keyboard support, semantic elements, color contrast).

  • However, some components diverge from ADS (e.g. icon-only buttons, custom role usage), leading to accessibility gaps.

  • A UI redesign is currently in progress, favoring text-based navigation patterns, which significantly improve accessibility.

  • Short-term improvements and mid-term fixes are planned, including:

    • Adding missing aria-label attributes to icon buttons

    • Correcting invalid or unnecessary ARIA roles

    • Removing remaining contrast and semantic issues flagged by automated scans
