Configure connection settings
This guide helps you configure all the settings available for a Connection.
Before you start
Make sure you have:
Administrator rights in Jira - only administrators can set up the integration
Access the configuration settings
For Jira Cloud:
Select Apps from the left sidebar in Jira.
Next to Connector for Salesforce, click Menu (
) > App settings.
For Jira DC:Go to Settings>Applications
Under Connector for Salesforce, click Connections.
Select a connection, then click Configure.
Available Salesforce objects
Only Salesforce object types and fields explicitly added here are available for entity and field mapping, enabling associations between Jira work items and Salesforce records. The objects and fields you configure will be visible to end users through Connector features in Jira.
Click Add Salesforce Object.
In the Add Salesforce Object window, select the Salesforce object type you want to make available in Jira.
Optionally, select Import Layout to automatically import the object's compact layout from Salesforce. This pre-populates fields based on the layout defined in Salesforce, saving manual field selection.
Click Next.
From the Salesforce Field dropdown, select a field you want to make visible in Jira.
Fields added here will appear to end users in record views and mapping screens.Click Add. Repeat for each field you want to include.
Click Next.
Repeat steps 1–7 for each additional Salesforce object type required by your integration.
Click Appy Changes at the top of the page to save your configuration.
Note: Salesforce object types not added here will be unavailable for record mapping and association configuration. Make sure to add all object types your team works with, including custom objects.
For more information, see Configuring Field Displays and accessing the Details Display screen.

For more information, see Working with comments.
With Lightning Experience, the way you can view Chatter feeds is different, read Add comments in Salesforce (Chatter Feed and Case) for more information.
Query Optimization
Optimize the association JQL query
If enabled, this option can help improve performance by fine-tuning the JQL query that retrieves Salesforce and Jira associations, where it will be limited to projects with active binding. This option is disabled by default because the issue usually only affects projects with a very large number of Jira issues (around 5,000 or more).
Default Presets
These settings allow admins to set defaults for what happens when a user creates or associates a Jira Issue/Salesforce Object.
Limit the "Associate" feature to project / issue type with binding only
If enabled, you can’t associate unmapped Salesforce object types with Jira items.
Force All Presets
Enabling this will allow admins to force all the presets that have been set below, both inside Jira and Salesforce. This will also completely hide the presets from being shown to users when they create or associate a JIRA Issue/Salesforce Object.
View Only
If enabled, new associations will be set to View Only by default when users create or associate a Jira Issue/Salesforce record.
Automatic Push
If enabled, new associations will be set to Automatic Push by default when users create or associate a Jira Issue/Salesforce record.
Automatic Pull
If enabled, new associations will be set to Automatic Pull by default when users create or associate a Jira Issue/Salesforce record.
After Associating
Admins can set the default action that happens immediately after an association.

After Creating Jira Issue

Rich text setting
Before you start creating Jira work items from Salesforce, you can choose how to display the multiline fields editor in the Create Jira issue window. By default, all multiline fields use a rich text editor. If you prefer plain text formatting, you can disable the rich text editor, and the plain text setting will apply to all Jira work items you create from Salesforce.
Apply changes
When you’re ready with all your configuration, make sure you click the Apply Changes button to save all your settings.
