Step 1 - Assess and prepare your migration in the Confluence Cloud Migration Assistant
On this page:
Overview
To migrate Comala Document Management from a hosted instance, the Atlassian Confluence Cloud Migration Assistant (CCMA) can be used to transfer spaces, users, groups, and vendor app data.
You can assess and prepare your migration using the CCMA before migration. This includes an assessment of the apps you need in the cloud and a check on their availability and vendor support for the migration of the app data. In addition, the assistant helps you review your users and email domains.
Pre-requisites
Several tasks are detailed in the Migration to Confluence Cloud page. These must be undertaken before migration and include:
Pre-requisite tasks such as installation of the latest app versions and reviewing app functionality in the cloud
Pre-migration assessment of your current usage of workflows in your hosted instance
Other pre-migration steps include removal of page restrictions, exporting page metadata, and consolidating your page workflows to include in the migration
For audit purposes, workflow event and activity history data are automatically preserved as a custom content file on pages with workflow activity from Comala Document Management Data Center v7.10.1. If you are using an earlier data center version of the app, you must manually run the Attach Activity utility prior to migration to preserve the full workflow event and activity history.
You should also have set up a destination Confluence Cloud site. You must have administrator permission in the cloud site to create and run a migration.
The minimum Comala Document Management for Data Center version required for a successful migration is 7.8.0.
Assess and prepare your migration
The Atlassian Confluence Cloud Migration Assistant is used to assess and prepare your migration.
In Confluence global administration in your Confluence Data Center instance:
Open the Migration Assistant
The Migration Assistant home screen takes you through tasks to prepare your migration.
If you have previously undertaken a migration, the Migrations dashboard is displayed.
You need to
Assess your apps: check which vendor apps you need to bring to the cloud, including cloud compatibility and availability
Prepare your apps: Use the assistant to ‘Connect’ to the cloud site, ‘Install’ the required apps in the cloud, and Agree to app migration to let the assistant migrate the app data.
You must also use the Migration Assistant to
Assess and prepare your users, including user groups, and check that all email addresses are valid and unique
Review all email domains and set them as trusted or blocked
Comala Document Management data migration includes user details, such as approvers, in the last workflow state.
You can migrate your instance after you have assessed your apps and prepared them and their users for migration.
