Step 2 - Migrate your data using the Confluence Cloud Migration Assistant
Overview
You can migrate your Comala Document Management app data from a hosted instance using the Atlassian Confluence Cloud Migration Assistant (CCMA)
When creating a migration plan, the Migration Assistant lets you connect to your destination cloud and choose what to migrate
It also automatically runs pre-migration checks, including the following for the Comala Document Management app:
Checks page restrictions that prevent migration of workflow data
Checks if the Export Metadata utility has been run before the migration
Checks the Cloud compatibility of space workflows in the migration, including linked global workflows
The presence of page workflows in the spaces is also checked. These are not migrated, but the check lets you review whether to consolidate these as space workflows before the migration.
Prerequisites
You must have completed the steps in Step 1 - Assess and prepare your migration using the Migration Assistant.
You should have also undertaken the pre-requisite tasks detailed in the Migration to Confluence Cloud page.
Migrate your data
When you have assessed your apps and prepared the apps and users for migrating, you can Migrate your instance. Each migration can include one or more spaces.
Choose Migrate your data
If you have saved a migration plan or there are existing migration plans, you can choose the Create new migration option in the Migration dashboard.
The migration assistant takes you through the following steps:
Connect to Cloud: name your migration for reference, choose migration as a Testing or Production stage, and connect to the destination cloud site
You must be signed in as the Site Administrator for the Atlassian cloud site you're migrating to.
Choose your migration options: choose what to migrate (spaces, pages, attachments, users, groups, and vendor apps)
Pre-migration checks: The migration assistant automatically runs a Check for errors for each of your system, app versions, apps, spaces, user, and user group data
This includes specific App vendor checks.
App vendor checks are run for the apps marked as Needed in Cloud. Warnings can be viewed and, if necessary, resolved before proceeding with the migration.
These include the following for the Comala Document Management app:
Page restrictions verification: provides a CSV file report on pages with restrictions that prevent migration of the app data
Pages metadata export verification: checks that the Export Metadata utility has been run in the space(s) included in the migration
Workflow Definition’s Cloud Compatibility: checks the space workflows in the spaces included in the migration for cloud compatibility and whether the space includes any page workflows.
None of the Comala Document Management app vendors check warnings block a migration, but they do affect the included data for the app.
However, if a blocking error is returned in any of the Pre-migration checks, you cannot undertake the migration until it is resolved.
Review your migration: with no blocking errors, you can choose Run now to start your migration or Save it to the Migrations dashboard to run it later
When the migration is successful, you can use the link to view your Confluence Cloud site.
You can monitor migration progress in the Migrations dashboard and view the migration status and details for all current migrations.
Troubleshooting
If the migration fails, check the logs in the CCMA, re-run the migration, or create a support package and attach this to a support request.
