Notifier by Appfire
This guide explains how to integrate Notifier by Appfire with Assets and Inventory Plugin (AIP) for Jira Cloud to send asset-related notifications to your Slack workspace. With this integration, you can configure notifications to be sent directly to Slack channels or individual users, streamlining communication and ensuring automatic updates.
Use cases
The Notifier by Appfire integration with Assets and Inventory Plugin for Jira Cloud allows you to:
Set up notifications for asset creation, updates, and deletions.
Send notifications to specific specific Slack channels and/or users.
Define which assets trigger notifications by associating notification settings with asset types (for example, laptops, servers) or asset type collections (for example, Employees, ITSM Assets).
Prerequisites
Before you begin, ensure you meet the following requirements:
If you have Slack admin permissions, you can install the Slack app
Notifier by Appfiredirectly from AIP. Refer to the documentation for guidance. If you don’t have enough permissions, you will need to send an installation request to your Slack admin using the provided form and proceed once approval is granted.

Steps
Step 1: Connect Notifier by Appfire to Slack
In Jira, go to Assets and Inventory Plugin > Settings > Notification Schemes.
Click Connect Slack. You’ll be redirected to Slack to authorize the integration.
In Slack, click Allow to grant Notifier by Appfire access to your workspace.
Use the dropdown on the right-hand side to switch between Slack workspaces.
This will connect the app to your Slack environment. Once authorized, the empty Notification Schemes table appears.
Step 2: Create a notification scheme
Click the Notification Scheme button. The New notification scheme dialog opens.
Enter a name and (optional) description.
Select the Slack workspace. You can connect more workspaces through the dropdown.
Notifier will fetch all public channels and private ones you have access to and the users in your workspace. Select the recipients for your notification:
Slack channel (for example,
#team-updates)Slack users
Note: Notifier will automatically join the selected Slack channels.
Configure the message:
Title: Enter a brief, clear title.
Body: Enter the message. Use Slack markdown for formatting, emojis, and Add Parameter dropdown to insert asset-related details through dynamic values.
Click Save.
Step 3: Assign the notification scheme
Now, you must assign the notification scheme to an asset type collection or an asset type.
Assign to an asset type collection
Go to Asset Type Collections.
Open the asset type collection you want to configure.
Select the Actions menu (…) > Edit.
In the Edit Asset Type Collection dialog, choose a Notification Scheme.
Click Save.
The collection’s notification scheme will be visible on the top menu and will be automatically applied to all the asset types underneath it.
Notifications will now be sent when the assets in this collection are created, updated, or deleted.
Assign to an asset type
Open an asset type inside a collection.
Select the Actions menu (…) > Edit.
By default, asset types inherit the collection’s notification scheme. To override it, select a different notification scheme.
You can also select No notification scheme to not get notifications for the changes in this asset type.
Click Save.
Step 4: Test the integration
To test the integration, create or update an asset inside the asset type collection.
Click Save.
Open Slack to confirm the test message:
Channel notifications: The message appears as sent by Assets and Inventory Plugin for Jira, with the dynamic fields (if chosen) filled out.
Direct messages: The message appears as sent by Notifier by Appfire directly to the individual’s Slack account.
Your integration is now active. You can update notification settings as needed to match your workflow.
