Compatibility for ACLI 12.1.0
Description
The ACLI supports a wide range of Atlassian product releases. The matrix below provides compatibility guidance based on internal testing, API compatibility data from Atlassian and third-party app providers, and feedback from the user community.
You are encouraged to contribute to the improvement of compatibility information by participating in discussions and reporting issues.
In many cases, the ACLI works with app versions not officially listed, as it relies on remote APIs that have remained stable over time. For older releases, refer to earlier versions of the ACLI, which can offer broader coverage.
Users should verify their specific use cases when adopting new app versions. Official support is generally limited to the minimum versions specified in the matrix. Some newer ACLI actions can require more recent server versions—these requirements are typically documented or indicated in error messages.
To streamline the matrix, much older releases are no longer listed, although partial compatibility can still exist.
For more information on previous releases, refer to the compatibility notes of the previous versions.
Java requirements
Platform-independent distributions of the ACLI require a user-installed Java runtime version 11 or higher. These distributions are tested with Java 11, 17, and 21.
The installers and platform-specific distributions come bundled with the necessary Java runtime and do not require a separate Java installation.
CLI Clients and Connectors
ACLI 12.1.0 clients require connectors at version 11.3 or higher. For cloud users, regular updates are recommended to address incompatibilities introduced by Atlassian or other cloud providers.
We provide EAP releases to offer timely support for newly introduced problems or incompatibilities.
Product | Supported versions |
|---|---|
Confluence | Data Center 8.5 - 9.5 and Cloud |
Jira | Data Center 9.12 - 10.7 and Cloud |
Bitbucket | Data Center 8.19 - 9.6 and Cloud |
Jira Service Management releases are compatible with its corresponding Jira releases.
For third-party apps, like Tempo, we do not explicitly list app versions. However, we test against a recent version of each app that is known to be compatible with the supported platform.
Data Center is tested using the enterprise-supported release designated by Atlassian.
Run CLI apps
Apps are installed and run within an Atlassian application server environment.
App | Supported versions | Notes |
|---|---|---|
Confluence Data Center 8.5 - 9.5 | The server must be running Java 11 or higher | |
Jira Data Center 9.12 - 10.7 | The server must be running Java 11 or higher |
Java 11 requirement for Run CLI Apps
To install and use the Run CLI apps with this release, a Jira or Confluence server must be running on Java 11.
If your server is not yet using Java 11, you should continue using Run CLI apps version 9.9.0. We recommend planning an upgrade to Java 11 (or higher) to benefit from improved performance, security, and ongoing support.
Atlassian app compatibility
The ACLI supports a range of Atlassian apps, such as Jira Software, Jira Service Management (JSM), and Confluence Questions.
We test and support only the latest maintenance release of the apps available for the respective Atlassian app.
