How to create issues/sub-tasks based on the selected Components

This article explains how to create issues or sub-tasks based on the selected Components value using the Create on Transition app

Instructions

Perform the following:

  1. Log in as a Jira Administrator and click  > Projects.
  2. Select Project from the list in which you want to add the Components.
  3. Traverse to the Project settings and click on Components.
  4. Add the respective components as required.

           

      5. In the Workflows tab, click the Edit link to modify the required workflow.
      6. Select the transition for which you want to add or edit the post function. Select the Post Functions option.
          
      7. Select Create issues / Create Sub-task from the available options.
      8. Navigate to the Conditions and Configurations tab and add the below post function.
          

        9.  Click Publish.
      10.  Create an issue and select the Components. Now perform the transition of the issue where post-function has been added.

             Two scenarios are covered in the below screenshot:
             Scenario1: Select Components as ProductY and perform the transition of issue. Issue created with issue type Task
             Scenario2: Select Components as productX and perform the transition of issue. Issue created with issue type Bug.
              


             


     

It is recommended to test this function in a non-production environment before deploying it in production.
