This article explains how to add the values from a number list to a multi-line text field in the post function, by using the Create On Transition app.

Instructions

  1. Log in to Jira as an administrator.
  2. Click on Projects from the top navigation bar and select the project that you want. If the required project is not visible from the drop-down, select the menu option: View All Projects and select the project that you would like to use.
  3. Click Project Settings at the left bottom of the project page.
  4. Go to the workflow section and click on the icon adjacent to the relevant workflow.
  5.  Click on the transition that you want to add a post function. In the below example screenshot, adding the post function for the In progress transition:

  6. Click Post Functions section and then click Add post function.

  7. Select the option: Create Issue and then click Add for providing values to the fields.

  8. Under the issue fields of post function, click on Custom Fields section from the left side panel.
  9. Select the custom field and provide values to the filed. In the Values section, values need to be separated by \n as shown in the below screenshot:
  10. Click Add in the post function.
  11. Click Publish to publish the workflow changes.
  12. When you do a transition from In Progress in the Jira issue, the new issue gets created and custom filed values will be set as number wise.

Similar syntax can be used for bullets. But asterisk (*) needs to be used, in place of numbers.
