Overview

Using clone project action we can copy the project and respective issues but we can not keep the same ordering of issue key as present in the source project.

FAQ

Issue keys are unique identifiers for the issues.

Can we keep issue numbering when cloning the issues?

When we create the issues under the project, the issue key will be generated for each issue.

So when we perform the cloning of the issue from one project to another project, the new issue key will be generated for the cloned issues based on the serial number of the issue key. In case if the issue got deleted from the source project and then if we perform cloning the issues from one project to another. We notice the difference in issue key numbers in the target project as it will generate new issue key based on the serial in the target project.
