This article helps you to configure your Gmail as an SMTP profile to trigger outgoing emails from Jira and Confluence.

Instructions

  1. Go to your Gmail Settings by clicking on the “Manage your Google Account“ option.

  2. Search for App Password in the search bar and click on it. The app Password page will get open.

  3. Click on the Select App option and select Other(Custom Name) in the dropdown.

  4. Give any Custom Name and then click on the Generate button to generate the password. Copy this password as it used in configuring the SMTP profile.

  5. Log in to your Jira/Confluence instance and go to the system settings.

  6. Click on the Outgoing Mail in the left menu bar and click on Configure new SMTP mail server button to configure the SMTP profile.

  7. Provide the necessary details as shown in the below screen shot and paste the password you have generated in the password section of the page.

  8. Once the connection is successful, then click on the Save and authorize button to save the connection.

  9. Your profile has been created and you can test by sending the test mail.


  10. Check your inbox for the confirmation

Note:

  • HTML for Confluence app does not support rich text format.

  • There is no direct method for updating the confluence page in bulk. Please reach out to Appfire Support for any questions on this.
