Assets & Inventory Plugin for Jira Cloud allows you to link different assets together to establish a relationship between them. This can be useful in scenarios where assets are dependent on each other or when you want to track the relationship between two assets.
To Link Assets Together:
1. Go to the Asset Navigator and open an asset.
2. Click Link asset. The Linked Assets panel appears.
3. Choose the Link Type you want to make and select the asset.
5. Click Link.
It’s possible to create as many links between assets as you want. You can continue linking different assets by repeating the above steps.
To Create a New Link Type:
AIP comes with predefined linking types, but you can also create your own custom linking types. You can create new link types on the Asset Link Types page, which can be accessed by going to Settings > Asset Link Types.
1. Click the + Asset Link Type button. The New Asset Link Type screen appears.
2. Fill in the following details for the new link type:
Field | Description |
---|---|
Name | Give the new link type a name that describes the relationship you want to establish between the assets. |
Description | Provide a brief description of the new link type. |
Outward Description | Describe how the linked issue will be shown from the source asset to the destination asset. The outward description refers to the relationship from the source asset to the destination asset, e.g., owned by, reported by, etc. |
Inward Description | Describe how the linked issue will be shown from the destination asset to the source asset. The inward description refers to the relationship from the destination asset to the source asset, e.g., owns, reports to, etc. |
3. Click Save to create the new link type.
You can now use the new link type to link your assets together.
You can also modify or delete existing link types from the Asset Link Types page.
