This part of the documentation relates to Agile Poker - estimation tool for Jira Cloud next-gen projects.
If you use Jira Cloud Classic projects go to the Agile Poker - estimation tool for Jira Cloud documentation.
If you use Jira Server go to the Agile Poker - estimation tool for Jira Server documentation.
After all team members agree on an issue estimate you usually want to have the agreed value saved in some Jira custom field (we call it the estimation field). If you created you project out of a scrum next-gen template, chances are no configuration is required. However the kanban template requires some preparation.
In Agile Poker for Jira Cloud you can save the estimate in any number field, though the default "Story point estimate" field is recommended in order to see your estimates on the board.
To configure Agile Poker to use the default field follow these two simple steps:
- Enable the "Estimation" feature in Project Settings (Project settings → Features → Estimation)
- Select "Story point estimate" field as Estimation Field in Session Configuration (Estimation → Join Session → Session → Configure → Session Settings → Estimation Field):
If, for some reason, you'd like to use some other field for saving your estimates just add a number field to the issue type via Project settings → Issue Types → Story and set that field as the "Estimation field" like in the step 2 above.
