Permission schemes and their usage

Power Admin for Jira allows you to find any permission scheme in your configuration and shows all the projects associated with it.

Find permission schemes

  1. On Power Admin's Home page, select Permission Scheme from the drop-down, type a name or ID, and start your search.

  2. On the Search results page, click on the name of a permission scheme. You can filter further the permission schemes by using the Projects filter next to the search field.

  3. Then, the permission scheme’s profile page appears.

Search results

The page with search results shows the following information for each permission scheme:

  • Name and ID of the permission scheme - you can search for a permission scheme by its name or ID.

  • Projects - shows the number of projects where the permission scheme is configured. When you click on the project count lozenge, you can view a list of all these projects.

Profile page

Using the profile page, you can view a list of the projects where the permission scheme is present in the project configuration.

Permission scheme → Project relation

In the configuration, a permission scheme can be associated with a project from the Project settings → Permissions in the Jira UI. Then, this relation is detected and presented to you by Power Admin.

Usage information

The Summary section shows the number of projects associated with the permission scheme. You can click on the number to view a list of the projects.

The Details section of the profile page shows details of the projects associated with the permission scheme. You can then navigate to the profile page of each project.

Actions

The following actions are available for permission schemes:

  • Rename - click on the name of a permission scheme to rename it. Rename is a safe activity, which means that the permission scheme's name will be updated in all dependent configuration elements referring to it by name.

  • Configure - redirects you to the permission scheme's configuration page in Jira.

  • Edit - redirects you to the permission scheme's edit page in Jira.

  • Delete - use it to clean your Jira of any unused permission schemes. Power Admin allows you to delete a permission scheme if it’s not assigned to any projects.

  • Copy - redirects you to the permission scheme's copy page in Jira.

  • Export - exports the permission scheme's usage information in a CVS file.
