Startup Parameters and Options

As the popularity of this product grows, so does the need to further control its features for security purposes. For this reason, some features are controlled by Jira startup property flags that can only be controlled by system administrators.

Disable the Switch User Feature

The Switch User feature allows administrators to switch to any user without knowing their password. To see the instructions for disabling this feature, see the Disabling or Enabling the Switch User Feature section on the Switch User page.

File Permissions for SIL

Routines

Functions

SIL can read and write to files on the file system. This is a powerful feature and invites users to explore and understand the true potential of this feature. However, this does raise some concerns for organizations that strictly lock down some areas of the file system. To improve the security of these features while simultaneously allowing them to survive, we have limited the access of these routines functions to only those directories used to store the SIL scripts. However, if you wish to add access to other directories on the file system, you may do so using startup parameters. See the File Manipulation RoutinesFunctions page for additional details.

Log Settings

In order to better monitor the behavior of scripts running in the system, there are settings that can be used to write script data to the system logs. In order to accomplish this a few settings must be added first. For more details on configuring this logging see the Jira Logging Configuration page.
