All the texts used by the Chat Widget (seen by the customer) can be translated or modified to your needs. To do this, go to your Project Settings > Chat Settings > Apps, and from the sidebar, click Translate and Customize Chat.

On this page, you will find all the text strings used by Chat. You can modify the texts globally (for all languages) by selecting the "Default Text" option below, or translate and translating the texts to specific languages. Language-specific translation will always override the default text. The user's browser language setting will be used automatically to select the language displayed to the user.

Important: The changes made here apply to both the Jira Customer Portal and external web sites to all projects simultaneously and cannot be modified per project. You need to be a Jira Admin to access this page.

How to Translate a Text String

  1. Open Apps > Translate and Customize Chat.

  1. From the drop-down menu, find the language you want to provide the translations for.

  1. Find the text you want to translate.

  1. Click the text to reveal the text box, and then write the translation.

  1. Click Change.

Here you can also reset the text to default by clicking Reset.

Note

For the translations/customizations to work correctly, all the All of the special placeholder markers, such as {}, { 0}, { 1}, { 2}, { 3} , and so on, have to must be present in the modified texts ! for the translations and customizations to work properly. This is actually validated, and in the case of a missing parameter, an error is displayed:
