A content review is specific to a workflow state.
They are characterized by two buttons, named Approve and Reject in the workflow popup. A space admin can amend these default button names.
A content review can be configured to allow the assignment of one or more users as a reviewer.
If there are no reviewers assigned, on an approval decision the content will transition to a destination state configured in the added workflow unless a minimum number of reviewer approval decisions is required.

If one or more users are assigned as reviewers, all assigned reviewers must undertake and agree on the Approve decision for the transition to occur if a minimum number of reviewers is not required.
Anyone can undertake the content review - no assignment
A content review can be set to be undertaken by any user (with View and Edit permission).
As long as no minimum number of reviewer approval decisions is required, only one user is required to approve or reject the content.
A user cannot be assigned as a reviewer in the workflow popup.
Manual assignment
If the content review allows, one or more users can be manually assigned using the workflow popup.
If a reviewer has not yet been assigned, anyone can undertake the content review.
Once a reviewer is assigned only these assigned user(s) can undertake the approve or reject decision.

Pre-assignment of reviewers to an assignable content review
A content review can also have users pre-assigned as reviewers with the option to manually assign additional reviewers using the workflow popup.
Pre-assigned users are added to the workflow popup on the transition to the content review state.
Each reviewer decision is displayed in the workflow popup until all reviewers agree and the approval transition occurs.
Any assigned reviewer can be unassigned from the content review.

A content review can be limited to one or more reviewers that must undertake the approval. These are added by the workflow on the transition into the content review state.
There is no option to manually assign any other reviewers
all the reviewers must undertake and agree on the approval decision for a transition to occur unless a minimum number of reviewer approval decisions is required

If e-signature is enabled for approval, each reviewer will be prompted in the workflow popup to set up a personal code to authenticate their identity using a 3rd party application.
This is a one-time setup for a user in the instance allowing the 3rd party app to be used to generate time-limited tokens for identity authentication.
