Overview

Your home screen in Slack acts as a dashboard for Jira inside Slack. You can access your home screen as an easy way to interact with Jira from Slack.

  • You can view lists of issues, create new ones, and update existing ones on your home screen.

  • You can set preferences and settings to control your home tab configurations.

  • You can update settings via the Settings button in the bottom right.

Adding the app

  1. Navigate to the Apps section in Slack.

  2. Click the + button.

  3. Type Jira and select Jira Integration+.

Using the home screen

Learn how to use the home screen and greatly reduce the need to switch contexts between Slack and Jira.

Viewing issues assigned to you (default)

  1. Navigate to the Jira Integration+ app in Slack.

  2. View the list of assigned issues (or your configured default - see below).

  3. Optional: Expand or collapse issue information and quick actions.

    1. Click the checkbox to expand the issue information and view additional issue information.

    2. Click the checkbox to show quick actions to access quick issue actions.

Changing the list of issues on the home screen

  1. Navigate to the Jira Integration+ app in Slack.

  2. Click the Change button in the upper right.

  3. Select from default filters or utilize JQL queries to retrieve a targeted list of issues:

    • Assigned to Me (Default): Review issues allocated to you.

    • Watched Issues: Monitor issues you've marked for tracking.

    • Recently Created in Project(s): Identify issues created recently across specified projects.

    • Specific Status(es) by Project(s): Locate issues within defined statuses across one or more projects.

    • Current Sprint by Project and Status(es): Examine issues within the ongoing sprint for a designated project.

    • Custom JQL: Craft personalized JQL queries to pinpoint specific issues.

  4. View the selected list of issues on the home screen.

The app remembers your preference for future visits.

Viewing a list of issues using JQL

  1. Navigate to the Jira Integration+ app in Slack.

  2. Click the Change button in the upper right.

  3. Scroll down to the Custom JQL Query option.

  4. Enter your JQL (learn more about JQL here).

  5. Click the Save button.

Create New Issues

  1. Navigate to the Jira Integration+ app in Slack.

  2. Click the Create button.

  3. Fill out the form and click the Next button to create your issue. You can set your project and issue type in your personal settings.

Set your Quick Create defaults

The quick create settings allow you to set a default project and issue type when you create issues. This configuration will be utilized everywhere in Slack as your personal default.

  1. Click the Settings button on the home tab.

  2. Choose a Jira project to be your default.

  3. Select the issue type for your default.

  4. Click the Save button to save settings.

Find and share issues

  1. Navigate to the Jira Integration+ app in Slack.

  2. Click the Find Issue button.

  3. Enter your search term (the app searches in the issue name, key, and description).

  4. Select the issue that you were looking for.

  5. Share the issue with a channel or user in Slack.

Assign Issues and bulk-assign

You can easily find issues in Jira and assign them from your home screen. You can also assign multiple issues.

  1. Navigate to the Jira Integration+ app in Slack.

  2. Click the Assign button.

  3. Enter your search term (the app searches in the issue name, key, and description).

  4. Choose one or more issues.

  5. Choose the user to whom you would like to assign the issues.

Add a comment

  1. Navigate to the Jira Integration+ app in Slack.

  2. Click the Comment button.

  3. Enter your search term (the app searches in the issue name, key, and description).

  4. Choose an issue.

  5. Enter your comment on the issue.

  6. Click the Add comment button.
