Overview

Emojis are an easy way to interact with Jira from Slack.

They are also easy for your team to learn and remember, making them even more useful.

  • You need to invite the bot to your channel to use this feature.

  • Use 🐛 to create a new issue from a single message.

  • Use 📷 to capture a thread of messages.

  • You can assign additional emojis to issue types globally or per channel.

Adding 🐛 to create an issue

  1. Find a message in Slack.

  2. React with the :bug: emoji 🐛.

  3. Click the button Create Issue.

  4. Create your issue.

We will automatically attach files to your issue if the message in Slack includes a file.

One-click create

You can default the project and issue type in each channel in Slack to make things even easier for your users.

Configuring one-click create

Use the channel settings to configure the project and issue type you want to use as default.

  1. Type /jira-plus configure

  2. Click the Configure button in the Quick Create section.

  3. Choose a project and issue type to use as your default.

  4. Choose the emoji you would like to map to the default.

  5. Click the Save button.

Configure Field Defaults in Quick Create

Use quick create field defaults to populate fields for users when creating issues from Slack automatically.

  1. Type /jira-plus configure.

  2. Click the Configure button in the Quick Create section.

  3. Choose a project and issue type to use as your default.

  4. Choose the emoji you would like to map to the default.

  5. Scroll down, find Field Defaults, and click the Configure button.

  6. Fill in relevant details into custom fields.

  7. Click the Save button on the Field Defaults page.

  8. Save again on the Quick Create screen.

Global emoji mapping

You can also define global emoji quick create to work in all channels where the bot is present. These settings would be in addition to any channel-specific quick-create configurations.
