Description

Consider a scenario where the user wants to clone an issue and copy the respective comments, links and attachments. This page explains the steps to accomplish the scenario.

Steps

Navigate to the intended issue. For example, consider the following issue with the highlighted issue link, Confluence page attachments, and comment to be cloned:

Perform the following:

  1. Select the Clone Plus option from the Actions menu to set various fields for the clone action in the Clone Plus for Jira window.

  2. Select the Clone operation, Project and Issue type as required. Also, select the following clone options to copy the respective issue details:

    • Copy attachments

    • Copy links

    • Copy comments

  3. Click Clone to configure the other issue fields further as required.

  4. Click Create to create the issue. You see the original issue cloned with the issue link, Confluence page attachments, and comment of the original issue copied as highlighted in:

  • In the cloned issue observe that the current behavior is:

    • Confluence links are copied as web links into the cloned issue.

    • The original commentator is replaced with the user performing the clone operation.

  • Copy comment rules
    In some case, some view restricted comments are not be copied to prevent the comment becoming visible elsewhere. Here are the rules:

    • All comments are copied when going to the same project whether they have view restrictions or not.

    • Any view restricted comments retain the same restrictions when copied.

    • All view restricted comments that are restricted by group are copied.

    • All view restricted comments that are restricted by a project role restriction CANNOT be copied when the clone is to a different project.
