This article explains how to create sub-tasks based on the components selected and assign them to the respective component leads by using Create on Transition app.

Instructions

In a Jira instance: Consider a Component with values, Jira and Confluence with users test and user1 as leads for the components respectively in a specific project.

  1. Add a post-function to the intended transition to create a sub-task.
    To add a post-function, navigate to Cogwheel > Issues > Workflows > select the workflow of the project and edit the same.
  2. Select Select Create Sub-task post function as shown below.

  3. Select the Detailed Fields tab and select the Assignee field as %function_componentLead(%original_project%, %entry%)%.

    By giving the mentioned value in the Assignee field, it assigns the sub-tasks to the respective component leads. 
  4. Select Select the Conditions & Configuration Configuration tab and add %original_components% to Create multiple issues field, so that subtasks are created based on the number of components selected.

  5. Click Click Update to  to save the settings. Verify the condition.

  6. Publish the workflow draft.
  7. Perform Perform the transition Awaiting implementation as shown. You will notice that issues are created based on the condition and will get assigned to the respective component leads.
