This article explains how to put the custom field values of a parent in summary Summary of created subtask during the transition using the Create on Transition app.
Instructions
Follow the below steps to put the custom field values of a parent in summary of created subtask
- Log into Jira system as a Jira Administrator and click > Issues > Fields (under Custom fields).
- Navigate to the intended custom field and click the> Configure. You will be able to see the custom field ID in the address bar as shown in the following screen.

- Take a note of the custom field IDs and navigate to the workflow associated with the project.
- Edit the respective workflow as required.
- Select a transition which has the post function with the custom field values.
- Click the Post functionsFunctions tab.
- Click the pencil icon to edit the post function.
- In Create on Transition for Jira – Create Subtask(s), click Custom Fields in the left sidebar. If
- In Create on Transition for Jira – Create Subtask(s), click Custom Fields in the left sidebar.
- As you want to copy the parent issue custom field to the summary of the created subtask through create on transition, then you need to mention parent custom field as %parent_customfield_id% in the summary of Post function.

- Once you click on Update, the post function will look like as shown in the screenshot.
- Public the Workflow before executing the transition. You will be able to see the custom field value in the Summary in the new subtask.
