If an Administrator has given you the Request project creation permissions, then you can submit a request to have a new project created by performing the following:

  1. From the Projects menu, select Request new project.
  2. The Request new project screen is displayed, listing each project template that has been defined by the Jira Administrator. 
  3. Click Request next to the intended template to begin your request for a new project. The following screen is displayed so that you can indicate the name, key, description, and other details for your new project:

    If an Administrator has configured additional questions about your request, then answers to those must be filled in as well.

    Note that: 

    • Fields marked with * are mandatory. An error is displayed and you cannot proceed further if you do not provide values in these fields.
    • Project Key is generated automatically as you provide Project Name.
    • Project Owner is displayed only when your administrator adds group(s) as owners in the Project Create Permissions tab of Project Template Settings.


  4. You can click Back at any time to return to the preceding screen. 
  5. If you want to abandon your request, click Cancel.
  6. When you have answered all of the required questions, click Submit to submit your request. A confirmation screen is displayed along with the guidelines that are configured by Jira administrator.
  7. Click Done if you are finished or Request another project if you have more requests to submit.
  8. If in case the license of the app got expired or became inactive, a warning message is shown upon clicking on the 'Request' button.
