  1. Log into your Jira Cloud instance.

  2. Click on the cog icon to see the Settings menu.

  3. Go to Issues under Jira Settings.

  4. Click Custom Field in the left column to see the custom fields menu.

  5. Click Create Custom Field, and a screen will pop up.

  6. Select Text field (single line).

  7. Create a Name for the duration field.

  8. Click Create.

Then, you’ll need to add the field you’ve created to your screens. Follow these steps to do that:

  1. Go to the Custom Fields menu under the Issues section in Jira Settings.

  2. Click ... in the row of the Duration Field that you want the screens to be displayed on.

  3. Go to Associate to Screens.

  4. The Associate Field to Screens pagewill appear.

  5. Tick the screens on which you want the duration field to appear. Remember: The field will only be in the screens that you selected!

  6. Click Update.

Now, you can see the Duration Field in the Dynamic Duration drop-down menu whilst defining or updating an SLA.
