Consider a scenario where This page provides details to clone all the issues in a project.

If you want to create a new Jira project that comprises consists of the same requirements and features of an existing project. Instead of creating all the issues from scratch, you can simply use the Bulk Clone Plus for Jira Bulk Clone feature to copy all the issues from the existing project into a new one. This page explains the steps to create a clone of an entire project.

Steps

An example project Issue tracking is considered as an existing project in this tutorial. All the issues in this project must be cloned to a new project Help desk ticket tracking (for example) in bulk.

Note

The bulk clone action is applied to a maximum of 1000 issues in a project. If a project has more than 1000 issues, the remaining issues are ignored and are not cloned.

Steps

  1. In the top navigation bar, click Filters > Advanced issue search to search for all the issues you want to clone using advanced search or click Switch to basic next to the search bar for a basic search.

    Note

    The bulk clone action is applied to a maximum of 1000 issues in a project. If a project has more than 1000 issues, the remaining issues are ignored and are not cloned.

    Click the For example, consider you want to clone all the issues in the CLONEISSUES (CLON) project to a the ZCLONECLOUD project.

  2. In the top-right corner, click Bulk Clone (Clone Plus for Jira) icon at the top right of the page to navigate to the bulk cloning screen.Image RemovedSelect

  3. On the Choose issues page, select all the issues by selecting the check-box by selecting the checkbox from the first column in the heading in the Step 1 of 3: Choose issues tab.

  4. Click Next to navigate to the next step or Cancel to terminate the bulk clone operation and navigate back to the issue search screen.

  5. Select the following details in the Step 2 of 3: Bulk Clone details tab:

  6. Click Next.

  7. On the Bulk Clone details page, do the following:

    1. In the Clone operation field, select the clone operation which you want to apply to the issues being cloned.

  8. Project: The issues are cloned into the selected project.

  9. Issue type: The issues being cloned are assigned the selected issue type.

    NoteYou cannot clone a Subtask 
    1. In the Project field, select the ZCLONECLOUD project to which you to clone the issues.

    2. In theIssue type field, select the issue type you want assign for the issues being cloned.

    3. In the Clone options section, click the required clone option.

  10. Click Next.

  11. In the Confirmation page, review the Issues selected and Bulk Clone details sections.

  12. Click Run Clone to clone the selected issues.
    All the issues in the CLONEISSUES (CLON) project are cloned to the ZCLONECLOUD project. You can see the Clone report with the following details:

  13. Click View clone(s) to view the all the cloned issue(s).
