You can add multiple asset custom fields to any screen you want for JIRA Core, Jira Software, JIRA Service Management, and the JSM customer portal. Then, you can filter its content by asset type(s) or saved filters.

It is possible to create a custom field for IT by filtering IT asset types and also it is possible to create another asset custom field for Human Resources by selecting a saved filter for HR.

Before You Begin

  • You must be a Jira admin to add additional asset fields.

Add Asset Custom Fields:

  1. Go to Settings () > Issues > Custom Fields.

  2. Click Add Create custom field. Find and select the The Select a Field Type popup appears.

  3. Click Advanced > External assets platform field.

  4. Select Next.

  5. Enter a name and optional description.

  6. Select Create.

  7. Select the screens you want this field to appear in.

  8. Scroll down and click Update.

Note: Every app is different - check the apps' documentation for information on how to connect the asset management app to the field.Now, the custom field will appear on the screens you’ve selected, and the users will be able to link assets to their requests in the Jira issue view. Keep in mind that you can link multiple assets on a single request by adding additional asset fields.
