This quickstart guide will walk you through the key concepts you need to know to get started with Assets & Inventory Plugin (AIP) for Jira Cloud. AIP lets teams track assets, configuration items, and resources to understand key relationships between applications, services, underlying infrastructure, and other assets.

When you first install the plugin and open AIP, you'll be directed to the welcome page. Here, you can either start by creating your first asset or, if you're moving from one instance to another, you can use the import tool to add all assets, asset stock, and inventory instantly. Let’s explore both scenarios.

Step 1: Get your assets ready

Scenario A: Create assets

You can get started by creating your first asset and getting your asset inventory up and running quickly. The most common asset types are already included, but you can create your own as well.

Scenario B: Import assets

If you’re moving from one instance to another, you can use the 4-step Import tool to add all assets, asset stock, and inventory instantly from predefined CSV templates. To make the transition from another instance to AIP as seamless as possible, we’ve created a template that can be used as a guide when importing assets.

Step 2: Start tracking and managing your assets

  • Use the search and filter options to quickly find the information you need.

  • Click on an asset to view its details, update its information, or view its history.

  • Use the plugin's reporting and analytics features to gain insights into your asset management processes.

That's it! With these three simple steps, you can start using the Assets and Inventory Plugin for Jira to efficiently manage your assets, asset stock, and inventory.
