This part of the documentation relates to Agile Poker for JIRA Server. If you are using JIRA Cloud go to the Agile Poker for JIRA Cloud documentation. |
To get started with
Agile Poker for JIRA, have a look at the visual quick start guide below. Also child topics in this section explain how to make working with the add-on effortless and fun.
Create a session
The first thing you need to do to start using the plugin is creating a planning session.
When creating a session you can decide to have all participants equal or run a session with Scrum Master. In the latter case only Scrum Master will be able to select active issue, fill in estimates and manage the session in Private mode. You also select participants that will be able to join by choosing Private mode and particular participants. You can run multiple sessions for a given board and they will be totally separate.
Warning |
---|
Remember that you still need to invite participants via email or instant messaging as Agile Poker for JIRA will not send out invitations. |
Estimate issues
Once participants joined it is trivial to vote for issues.
Collaborate with remote participants
The great feature of Agile Poker for JIRA is that all task board changes will be instantly visible through your JIRA. So if anyone is in another location he will not miss anything and he will not have to refresh the board. The plugin will handle all the communication and user interface updates.
You still need to use another tool for voice communication though - please use audio / video communication tool (HipChat, Skype, Webex) that's suitable for you.
Enterprise for JIRA Server was inspired by two industry standard estimation methodologies: Planning Poker® and Wideband Delphi. The product provides two types of estimation sessions:
- Interactive - based on Planning Poker®. Best for teams working in the same time zone. Interactive sessions requires all team members to participate in the same time. It facilitates discussion and results in estimations based on consensus.
- Asynchronous - based on Wideband Delphi. Irreplaceable for distributed teams, but works great for all teams that want to estimate asynchronously. Extremely efficient and results in consultation based estimations.
