Below is a summary of the setup process for the WhatsApp Business Platform by Meta. For more detailed instructions, refer to the official Meta guide.

Prerequisites

Step 1: Create a Meta app

  1. Go to http://developers.facebook.com > My Apps > Create App. Find the Business type and follow the prompts on your screen.

  2. Locate the WhatsApp product on the newly created app's dashboard and click Set up.

  3. Next, you will see the option to select an existing Business Manager (if you have one) or, if you would like, the onboarding process can create one automatically for you (you can customize your business later, if needed). Make a selection and click Continue.

🎉 Your Meta app with the WhatsApp product is now created!

Step 2: Send a test message

  1. On the API Setup (former Getting Started) tab, select your WhatsApp number, if any, or test phone number in the From field.

  2. Add the phone number you would like to message in the To field.

  3. Click Generate access token at the top if the field is currently empty.

  4. Click Send Message to send the first message.

That’s it! You have just sent a test message! (smile)

Step 3: Enable live mode

To integrate your WhatsApp Business app with Chat for JSM, your app must be set to Live mode.

Please note that there are additional steps required to use WhatsApp Business, including getting application approval, adding your privacy policy link and business phone number, obtaining user opt-in, and adding pricing and payment.
