Integrating WhatsApp Business with Chat for JSM empowers your clients to submit their queries directly via WhatsApp, while enabling your support teams to manage those requests seamlessly within Jira.
This integration requires configuration on both ends: you will need to create an app on the Meta side and incorporate the required parameters from that app into the Chat for JSM settings in your Jira.
How to Create and Test Your WhatsApp Business App
We've summarized how to set up the WhatsApp Business Platform by Meta below. Check out the official guide for more details.
To Get Started:
Create a Meta App
Go to http://developers.facebook.com > My Apps > Create App. Find the "Business" type and follow the prompts on your screen.
Locate the WhatsApp product on the newly created app's dashboard and click Set up.
Next, you will see the option to select an existing Business Manager (if you have one) or, if you would like, the onboarding process can create one automatically for you (you can customize your business later, if needed). Make a selection and click Continue.
Tada! 🎉 Your Meta App with WhatsApp product has been successfully created!
Send a Test Message
On the API Setup (former Getting Started) tab, select your WhatsApp number, if any, or test phone number in the From field.
Add the phone number you would like to message in the To field.
Click Generate access token at the top if the field is currently empty.
Click Send Message to send the first message.
That’s it! You have just sent a test message!
Enable Live Mode
To integrate your WhatsApp Business app with Chat for JSM, it is essential to have the app set to Live mode.
Please note that there are additional steps required to use WhatsApp Business, including getting application approval, adding your privacy policy link and business phone number, obtaining user opt-in, and adding pricing and payment.
